Missoula continues building momentum toward future housing growth after the Missoula City Council officially approved the land sale for the highly anticipated Midtown Commons development near Southgate Mall.

The approval marks a major milestone for the approximately $100 million mixed-use community, which is expected to deliver up to 250 new housing units alongside commercial space, public gathering areas, new infrastructure, and a thoughtfully designed 1.6-acre public park.

The project will be developed by Miramonte Companies a longtime Mountain West developer and builder known for creating thoughtfully planned residential communities focused on modern livability, quality design, and long-term community value.

A Major Investment in Missoula’s Future

Midtown Commons represents one of the most significant infill redevelopment projects currently moving forward in Missoula. Planned on long-underutilized city-owned property, the community is designed to bring a diverse mix of housing types to the market, including:

  • Condominiums

  • Townhomes

  • Apartments

  • Duplexes

  • Single-family homes

The development will also include new streets, sidewalks, landscaping, trail connectivity, and commercial opportunities designed to support a more walkable and connected Midtown district.

City Leadership Highlights Community Benefits

City leaders emphasized the importance of the project in helping meet Missoula’s growing housing needs while advancing long-term redevelopment goals for the Midtown area.

Mayor Andrea Davis called Midtown Commons “an exciting opportunity” and said the project “addresses a wide set of community goals and needs.”

The project has also been recognized as a catalyst for future investment and revitalization within the Midtown district, supporting broader city goals tied to housing expansion, connectivity, and mixed-use development.

Meeting the Demand for Modern Housing

As Missoula continues attracting residents seeking outdoor recreation, mountain living, and quality of life, the demand for modern housing options continues to rise.

Projects like Midtown Commons help address that demand by bringing:

  • New housing inventory to the market

  • Energy-efficient and modern homes

  • Walkable mixed-use neighborhood design

  • Expanded public amenities and open space

  • Long-term investment in community infrastructure

Several housing options planned within the development are also expected to target attainable pricing levels compared to broader Missoula market conditions, helping create additional opportunities for local buyers and workforce housing.

Miramonte Companies’ Continued Commitment to Montana

Miramonte Companies continues expanding its presence throughout Montana with projects designed to support growing communities while enhancing quality of life through thoughtful planning and modern residential design.

Midtown Commons reflects the company’s continued focus on infill development and community-oriented neighborhoods that align with evolving buyer preferences and long-term regional growth.

Looking Ahead

With City Council approval now secured, Midtown Commons moves one step closer to becoming a transformative addition to the Missoula community.

As planning and development continue, the project represents another strong sign of confidence in Missoula’s long-term growth, housing demand, and continued evolution as one of the Northern Rockies’ most desirable places to live.
